Here are the latest product updates and news:

Connection: Keep everyone informed, included and inspired

We're excited to announce five new Microsoft Viva Connections capabilities:

  • Pre-pinning Viva Connections in Microsoft Teams for frontline workers can help them feel supported and informed as soon as they log in.
  • Inline setup right from the Viva Connections app in Teams will provide minimal setup from admins and a streamlined editing experience for operators.
  • Integrating Viva Learning and Viva Topics cards in Viva Connections can keep employees aware of upcoming and available training and encourage them to become Topics experts.
  • Adding Viva Engage and Yammer content to the feed will bring employees richer content by providing relevant information from Viva Engage and Yammer, such as Storylines, Praise, and Q&A.
  • Suggested dashboard cards will recommend relevant dashboard cards from the SharePoint store to Viva Connections customers.

We recently announced the general availability of Microsoft Viva Engage, which brings people together through digital communities, virtual events, rich conversation tools, and more. Today, we’re excited to share that Storyline is now generally available. Now, anyone inside the company can create rich posts that include links, files, photos, and videos as a way of sharing updates and perspectives with others in the organization. These posts appear on their storyline, which others can view in Viva Engage, Outlook, Yammer, and the Viva Connections feed in Teams. Stories, currently in preview, provides an even richer way to share on the storyline, letting users create short videos or photo collections in a familiar experience. Storyline and Stories help to strengthen personal connections between teammates and colleagues in a time when teams frequently work across different locations and even time zones.

Insight: Improve productivity and wellbeing with actionable insights

This quarter, several new productivity and wellbeing experiences from Microsoft Viva Insights are rolling out in Microsoft Teams. To help promote effective meeting habits such as including agendas and ending with clear next steps, we’re introducing data-driven recommendations for meeting organizers based on aggregate results from meeting effectiveness surveys. These will be displayed during the end of select Teams meetings to gather feedback on what made the meeting a success and what could have made it better. And to help promote healthy asynchronous collaboration habits, we’re introducing schedule send suggestions in Teams chat. These will be displayed as users compose 1:1 chat messages after-hours to encourage scheduling delivery of the message at the start of the recipient’s work hours and minimize interruptions during personal time. We’re also introducing a new focus mode experience to help people make progress on important projects during their workday by dividing their pre-scheduled focus time into short bursts of productivity followed by short breaks.

Purpose: Align people’s work to team and organization goals

Today we are excited to announce new third-party integrations for Microsoft Viva Goals that bring purpose and OKRs into your flow of work. Available today are new Slack and Google Sheets integrations with additional integrations for Jira on-premises coming soon. With the Slack integration, users can receive notifications, reminders and conduct OKR check-ins directly from Slack. The Google Sheets data integration allows you to sync Key Results check-ins to Google Sheet cells for real-time updates of your progress. The Jira on-premises integrations for Jira Software Server and Jira Data Center allows for all updates on linked Jira user stories, projects, or tickets to be automatically tracked in the progress for OKRs in Viva Goals. We are also releasing new integrations for first-party Microsoft tools. This includes enhanced Microsoft Teams integration for OKR activity notifications and personalized OKR guidance, and we are delivering new integrations with Azure DevOps, Azure Data Explorer, Power BI, Microsoft Planner, and Microsoft Project.

Growth: Help employees learn, grow and succeed

Today we’re announcing several new features for Microsoft Viva Learning, including:

  • Learning paths, now in private preview, allow creation of sequenced groups of learning courses directly within Viva Learning.
  • Learning collections, now in private preview, allow individual users to create personal collections of learning content aligned to their interests or learning goals.
  • Permissions in Viva Learning, now in private preview, allow Admins and Knowledge Managers to configure permission access to learning content and resources within their organization, ensuring users only see content they have access to consume.
  • Updates to the Viva Learning mobile app, including notifications for assigned and recommended trainings, the ability to consume content directly within the app, and improved capability to search and filter through catalogues of connected learning providers.

Additionally, Viva Learning now offers deeper integration with SAP SuccessFactors, including Single Sign On (SSO), which lets users access SAP SuccessFactors hosted content without needing to sign in; in-app playback, which allows users to consume SAP SuccessFactors hosted content directly within the Viva Learning app; permissions inheritance, which allows Viva Learning to apply the same user permissions from SAP SuccessFactors; and learning path inheritance, which allows programs configured on SAP SuccessFactors to display within Viva Learning as learning paths. Viva Learning is now more discoverable, with the ability to view assigned learning directly from Viva Connections home dashboard. Soon, users will also be able to see assigned learning from their daily briefing email.

Viva Topics will find relevant people, route questions and answers, and automate answers in conjunction with Answers in Microsoft Viva starting Jan 2023. Topic creators can see the growing impact of Topics they’ve created through badge icons with number of views. We’re introducing the adoption metric dashboard – a new tool coming in early 2023 that knowledge managers and admins can use to keep a pulse on how the organization is progressing. And to help your team members connect to the knowledge and expertise quickly, we’re releasing new Topics experiences such as Topic Cards in Viva Connections and in Outlook Desktop, along with other features for knowledge contributors that will be released in the coming months.
