What’s New with LinkedIn Pages

Editor's Note: Enjoy this special encore post, which was one of our readers' favorites in 2020.

As businesses around the world adjust to the “new abnormal,” we understand that one of the biggest adjustments you’ve had to make is in the way that you bring your professional community together. We’re here to help and have created the resources and organic tools you need to stay productive and connected during this time.

We’re just getting started and are excited to announce several major updates in this quarter’s LinkedIn Pages product release. These features are designed to help you connect with your community through virtual events, share important updates, and rally them from afar, all for free.

LinkedIn Virtual Events — Build community with LinkedIn Live and LinkedIn Events

Events come in all shapes and sizes, and along with them come a variety of objectives. Whether you’re looking to build awareness with new audiences, or strengthen relationships with target audiences, we have two virtual event solutions to bring your professional community together.

LinkedIn Live has helped many organizations drive reach and brand awareness with their audiences, while LinkedIn Events are helping people strengthen relationships with their target audiences by allowing them to seamlessly create and join professional events.

However, as the business world has moved from in-person conferences to virtual events, we recognized how important it was to equip you with the tools you need to bring your professional community together, online and at scale -- in the safest way possible.

That’s why we accelerated our product roadmap to bring you a tighter integration between LinkedIn Events and LinkedIn Live, turning these two products into a new virtual events solution that enables you to stay connected to your communities and meet your customers wherever they are.

“The typical Domopalooza event draws a couple thousand customers,” said John Mellor, Chief Strategy Officer, Domo. “We opened up the virtual event and saw 9,000 pre-registrations and more than 12,000 people watching the event, which was four of five times what we would have had in person.”

This new offering enables you to:

  • Host your event safely, in a trusted environment: Using LinkedIn Live, you can choose to live stream to your Page followers or Event attendees, so you can meet audiences where they are. Admins can leverage easy-to-use 3rd-party broadcasting partners, including Restream, Wirecast, Streamyard and Socialive, with more being added in the coming months.
  • Attract the right professional audiences: We’ve made it easy for you to share your event to your Page followers and send direct invitations to your first-degree profile connections.
  • Drive buzz and engagement for your event: You can build buzz for your event or live broadcast by posting an update to your Page or Event feed and by recommending key posts for attendees to check out. In fact, LinkedIn Live is seeing 23X more comments per post and 6X reactions per post than native video, and is a great way to have real-time engagement with your followers and connections.
  • Get more mileage out of your events: Once your virtual event is over, you can keep the conversation going with the Video tab — a dedicated hub for a Page’s organic video content that can be accessed by all members of your community. As virtual events become the norm, the Video tab helps you extend the shelf life of your digital video content.

Glint is using Events to host a live Q&A series on people science & LTS is using Events to host a live Q&A series on talent acquisition in the time of coronavirus.

In this quarter’s update, we’ve also included additional ways for you to communicate with and contribute to your community. The new custom announcement banner allows you to post critical and timely updates to the top of your Page, so your community can stay up to date on topics like important hiring decisions, how you’re shifting operating priorities, or protecting your workforce. Additionally, we’ve added a “Volunteer” call-to-action button option to help non-profits organizations ask members to volunteer. Note that this button is only available to established non-profit and school Pages on our platform, in order to protect our member community.
