Deloitte plans to hire 40,000 in Hyderabad

Global consulting firm Deloitte plans to double headcount at its largest India facility in Hyderabad to nearly 80,000 over the next three to five years. Deloitte, one of the Big Four audit firms, now employs nearly 40,000 people at the Hyderabad office, which houses some of its key innovation centres for the global market.

“In Hyderabad, we have 40,000 people (and) that is the biggest office at the moment. It should double in few years,” Hemant Joshi, technology, media and telecom leader at Deloitte India, told ET in an interview.

The company’s other important offices in India — Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi (Gurugram) — will also see increase in hiring over the next few years. An industry observer said Bengaluru is Deloitte’s second biggest centre in India and these three locations put together have 9,000-10,000 employees.

Joshi said the consulting firm has been hiring “a lot of engineers and software professionals” from the best universities and lateral talent for specific skills in technology implementation and other areas.

Deloitte joins its rival KPMG in ramping up India presence as these advisory and audit companies see a rising demand for outcome-based solutions, including technology services for many clients. In November last year, KPMG said it would hire 8,000-9,000 employees in India to expand its global service delivery capabilities in the country.

Paul Sallomi, global tech, media & telecom industry leader at Deloitte, said the company would hire people in India across domain areas such as taxation, mobility, IT systems, mergers and acquisitions, consulting services, system integration, and finance functions.
