Requesting TOC vote on Stephen Augustus as SIG Contributor Strategy Chair

Hi TOC,

Gerred has sent a step-down notice on the SIG Contributor Strategy list and recommended me to replace him as SIG Contributor Strategy Chair.
Based on https://github.com/cncf/toc/blob/master/sigs/cncf-sigs.md#elections, it looks like Chairs must be appointed by a 2/3 majority of the TOC.

I've opened https://github.com/cncf/toc/pull/485 to start this process.
Let me know if there's anything else that needs to be done on the SIG Contributor Strategy side!

Gerred and Carolyn,

I'm immensely honored and would love to step up as a SIG Chair for Contributor Strategy!

We have countless vibrant communities within the CNCF landscape and I'm hard-pressed to think of better goals than fostering deeper collaboration between maintainers, helping to establish enduring guidelines for community maintenance, and defraying burden from our TOC members.

While I know quite a few of you, here are some quick highlights for those who don't spend time in the Kubernetes Community:
  • SIG Release Chair, Release Manager, Release Engineering subproject owner
  • Enhancements (KEPs) subproject owner
  • Cluster API Azure core maintainer
  • GitHub Administration subproject member, New Membership Coordinator
...and formerly:
  • SIG PM Chair
  • SIG Azure Chair
For the CNCF:
  • KubeCon Chair
  • SIG Contributor Strategy member
  • Dex maintainer

Looking forward to working with you all more closely!
Stephen

My vote is for Stephan. He has been actively involved since the beginning and would make a great chair. 👍

Subject: [sig-contributor-strategy] Stepping down as SIG Contributor Strategy Chair

Hi all,

I am excited and onboard with the mission and hard work SIG Contributor Strategy has done, and am thankful for the opportunities to work with my co-chairs on founding this SIG.

I'm stepping down as a co-chair of SIG Contributor Strategy. In short - everything is fine.

I work on a bunch of different angles within the CNCF - KUDO is now a sandbox project, I chair the Operator Working Group, and work to be active in many different areas. I'm not going away.

My capacity for serving SIG Contributor Strategy is limited by these other things that demand more full time attention. I think it's important right now that I serve and help SIG Contributor Strategy succeed in its mission, not be a blocker for our co-chairs, WG leads, and everyone who cares about the success of CNCF projects. I will be active in an emeritus and supportive position, and would love to return to a chair role when I have the availability to do so as I think this is one of the most important SIGs serving the CNCF and CNCF TOC.

This is a good time to figure out and test successor-ship in this role, and while many could fulfill this role, two stand out to me as people who I'd recommend our existing chairs to succeed me in this role:

* Carolyn van Slyck
* Stephen Augustus

I think these two need no introduction (or if they feel compelled, can do it for themselves). I think they are as aligned and focused on the success of SIG Contributor Strategy as I am. No matter what, I look forward to SIG Contributor Strategy supporting the CNCF and TOC in building a healthy ecosystem of projects.

Thank you all so much! I'll be here and doing work and helping our collective goals. :)
