About this cause

We work with young people between the ages of 6 and 16 giving them the opportunity to make new friends, learn new skills and activities they may not get at home or school and be an active part of a local community. Scouting brings out the best in people; building confidence, resourcefulness, a team spirit and sense of community. Scouting has been part of our village since 1909 and the current group (re-formed after the first war) is a vibrant and active one, with over a hundred members. Scouts, Cubs and Beavers meet on different nights each week, to enjoy a wide range of activities including games, crafts, demonstrations and performance. We enjoy many trips each year, including camps, day or night hikes and numerous interesting visits. Our community contributes positively to village life.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our Scouts Hall is an essential part of life in our community. While Scouts use it on 3 weekday evenings, it is used by other community groups (e.g. WI, exercise classes etc.) & is regularly hired privately by families & other groups throughout the year. Also, the hall is used for public meetings occasionally & also as a rehearsal space. Our project will improve the facilities to modern standards.
