Catrin Hinkel is the new Country General Manager of Microsoft Switzerland

Catrin Hinkel

As of the end of May 2021, Catrin Hinkel will take over the management of Microsoft Switzerland. She joins from Accenture, where she was most recently responsible for Cloud First Strategy & Consulting in Europe. 

Catrin Hinkel completed her bilingual studies at the University of Reutlingen (European Business School in Reutlingen and London) in 1992. After graduation, Catrin Hinkel joined Accenture, a global management consulting firm. There she held various positions over the years, most recently as Senior Managing Director responsible for Cloud First Strategy & Consulting in Europe.

Since 2007, Catrin Hinkel was a member of the Executive Board of Accenture Germany. She has extensive professional experience from customer projects in various industries, for example telecommunications, media, technology, healthcare as well as the public sector. Until 2012, she was responsible for Accenture’s entire SAP implementation business in German-speaking countries.

As Human Capital & Diversity Lead for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Catrin Hinkel was also strongly committed to the topics of Diversity & Inclusion at Accenture. Since 2007, she has been a member and, since 2015, the spokesperson for the board of «Generation CEO,» a non-profit association and established network for top female executives in German-speaking countries. There, she is committed to removing hurdles for women on their way to the top management. Since 2020, she has also been a member of the advisory board of Startup Teens, the widest-reach digital education platform in Germany, which teaches students entrepreneurship and coding.

Catrin Hinkel was born 1969 and is a German citizen. For her new job, she will move from Germany to Switzerland. Catrin Hinkel will take up her new post on 31. May 2021. She succeeds Marianne Janik, who took over the leadership of Microsoft Germany in November 2020. Until Catrin Hinkel takes up her post, Microsoft Switzerland will be led on an interim basis by Didier Ongena, Country General Manager of Microsoft Belux.
