Using Microsoft's Partner Center streamlines administering a customer's environment by allowing our technicians to use their own accounts for admin actions. This means more transparency and security for our customers. Audit logs are aware of the specific individuals making changes, and all technician accounts have their own MFA methods, so no need to share verification codes. Additionally, the Partner Center lets us use RBAC, centrally managing who can do what in customer environments.   Currently, these partner accounts aren't able to administer Universal Print. We can assign the Print Administration role to Partner Technicians, but they still get a 403 error when trying to access the admin panel. Our best guess as to why (echoed by MS support) is technically a lack of licensing on the accounts. Because these partner accounts are external to the customer's tenant, licenses can't be applied in-tenant (and even if you could, that would mean spending hundreds a month just for UP administration.) There may be other reasons why Partner Technicians can't administer UP but this one seems like the most obvious.   As a workaround, we are currently managing with a single print admin account. However, because of the lack of a clear audit trail and sub-optimal MFA setup, this approach is a dealbreaker for many of our customers. Resolving this licensing issue for partner accounts would not only make our jobs easier and give our customers better support, but it would also make selling Universal Print to our customers that much easer (or even possible, in many cases.) ... Customers who are using Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management apps are unable to use follow-me printing and secure printing with the Document Routing Agent (DRA) instead they have to print to PDF and then send to a printer. This does not present a very good user experience to the end users.    The expectation is that once Universal Print is integrated into Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management apps our customers will be able to use it, in a more user-friendly manner while also using follow-me printing and secure printing.   This is a pain point for our customers.   I have also added this idea to the Dynamics community ideas portal: Microsoft Idea (dynamics.com) ... Unlike nearly the whole of Azure for some inexplicable reason to just administrate Universal Printing the account must have a licence for UP. Please remove this requirement but by all means prevent the account from using the service normally - why is a licence needed?   We have a corporate policy that all Azure admin accounts are separate to any user account i.e. as Global Admin I have my day to day account and my separate Azure admin account for performing administration in Azure/M365. Meaning a user would be able to natively scan to a SharePoint site using an API for example, without the need for different interfaces and without using accounts using basic auth. We manage 99% Connector printers. However, some of our currently installed models could probably be updated to be UP Ready printers when serviced by on site technicians.   It would be fantastic if the Universal Print Portal could poll the information of an already installed Connector Printer to check if the printer is UP Ready maybe just like it polls the Printer defaults of a UP Ready printer (%Printername% -> Printer Properties -> Printer defaults) today.   This way we would be able to identify UP Ready printers already in our environment in the Universal Print Portal instead of having to check each printers webgui manually leading to a faster move from the Connector Server to being fully serverless. ...
