Ohio said it received 48,640 unemployment claims on Monday and Tuesday, compared to 1,825 during the same time period last week. Similarly, Rhode Island reported nearly 7,000 new unemployment claims on Monday, compared to 160 the week before. New York also said its labor department saw a 65% increase in calls over last week. The state's website crashed due to the number of people trying to file claims. The U.S. government will report weekly data on Thursday.
