From the course: Inclusive Mindset for Committed Allies

Becoming a true ally

- What does it mean to become a true ally? We're living at a time where so many people are asking that question. By choosing this course, you've expressed your commitment to figuring out what allyship means for you. I'm Dereca Blackmon and I'm CEO of Inclusion Design Group, and I use she and they gender pronouns, and I like to let you know what my gender pronouns are because you can't tell what they are by looking at me. When people come to our company, they often come hoping to get a checklist of the dos and don'ts of allyship, what to say so they won't offend anyone or make a mistake. We're not going to give you a checklist. What we're going to give you are the key principles of inclusive mindset, being brave, being humble, and being dedicated. When you put those principles into practice, you'll discover what allyship means to you, how to be a true ally, and how to make the change you want to see in the world.
