https://lnkd.in/eG2YJqAs Today, we published Microsoft’s annual sustainability report, which shares our progress, challenges, and some key learnings.  Two years ago, we defined a “climate moonshot” for Microsoft, including a goal of becoming carbon negative by 2030. As we progress towards this goal, we’re learning a lot – both about what is relatively easy and what is extremely hard. Our work on sustainability is iterative, building on what works and improving what doesn’t. We’re focused as a company on increasing operational discipline with more precise carbon emissions targets, including for scope 3 emissions. We’re also increasing our internal carbon fee to better match the cost of carbon removal and abatement. And we’re expanding our work to advance global and systemic improvements in carbon accounting, which we believe will be critical for every organization. As we move forward, we’re committed to transparent reporting about how we’re doing. This is best way to hold ourselves accountable, and we hope can also help share our learnings in ways that may be of help to others as well.

niche developments can build you a Zero Emission data centre anywhere in the world. call us today, we currently build zero emission buildings. lets save the planet together!

I've heard Microsoft's sustainability ambitions referred to as a 'moon shot' but I disagree. I think it's not a sustainability moon shot, rather it's a sustainability imperative. --In her book "Doughnut Economics", Kate Raworth describes a corporate To Do list that ranges from 'Do Nothing' to 'Do your fair share' all the way up to 'Be generous'. Then she asks "Which one is your business aiming to do?" --Microsoft and many of our enterprise customers must take the lead because we are too big to not make a difference. So for me, it's not a moon shot, it's a sustainability imperative.

Excited to see our partner Taking Root's CommuniTree reforestation project represented in Microsoft's ambitious and comprehensive sustainability report!

Excited to see Nomad Go AI's building decarbonization solution highlighted in the report Brad Smith! Look forward to working with Microsoft to go after the 39% of greenhouse gas emissions created by buildings.

👏 Great actions and results from the past year, and very nice report (in structure, content, and transparency). 💚 Looking forward to one step better next year as well (speaking as a Azure and 365 customer).

Originally, I thought Microsoft shouldn't be involved, though after reviewing some of the work everyone did, and partnerships, it's great they are providing such excellent leadership globally.

Great info. We really appreciate the progress your organization is making. I highly recommend the latest technology from Holcomb Energy systems, they can dramatically reduce your carbon footprint and decrease the amount of electricity that you pull from the grid or your existing generation sources. It uses zero fossil fuel, is silent, and runs at room temperature. https://holcombenergysystems.com/

I am a big fan of everything Microsoft does. It would be really interesting to hear about your energy efficiency initiatives at your data centers - as we all know, these are glutonous energy consumers and it would be great to hear about your approach to tackling this.
